A very old dog we are looking after urinated on our carpet during the night which was a warm one followed by another warm day, a rarity in the UK. so it stunk! My wife used a strong solution of Comfort fabric conditioner and warm water to scrub the area. Absolutely no trace of the smell or stain and it cleaned the carpet exceptionally well leaving a nice fresh smell?

Thank you for these tips! I have two puppies and they are always urinating on our carpets and wood floor. The urine smells and stains got so bad that I had to have a local carpet cleaner come and fix it. They did a great job, but I just moved into a new place and I'm determined to keep the carpet free from their accidents. After reading your post, I'm starting to believe it's possible. I'm always going to keep white vinegar and baking soda on hand from now on!
